Michelangelo Bartolotta, architect. I have been working in Palermo and the province of Agrigento since 2009.

I deal with building paperwork: certificates of habitability, regularisations, permits for renovation, land registry matters. It is work made of documents that often cannot be found, of actual states that do not match the approved drawings, and of offices that move at their own pace. The hard part is not filling in the form: it is establishing what really exists before signing anything.

Degree in Architecture from the University of Palermo, urban planning specialisation, 2009. Registered with the Ordine degli Architetti P.P.C. of Agrigento, no. 1557.

How I work

I follow each file myself, from the first check to the filing. There is no hand-off between the person who answers and the person who does the work, and no call centre in between.

I use digital tools where they genuinely help: three-dimensional surveys where the state of the building is undocumented, parametric models for rural buildings, automated procedures for condominium share tables. Not technology for show: it is how the measurements add up when the documents are not enough.
